5 ways to get home without driving
If you decide to go for a drink or take drugs when you have your car its easy to be tempted to drive home afterwards, especially if you've only had a small amount. However, even a small amount can affect the speed of your reactions and compromise your ability to drive. The safest thing to do is find an alternative way to get home.
These are easy ways to beat the breathalyser…
1. Call a taxi
It will be cheaper than the £5000 fine for being caught
2. Take a bus or train
There are 3 great services you can use to help you identify the best route home:
- Phone
Traveline Scotland on 0871 200 22 33 - Web
Go to Transport Direct's website which shows all public transport links (www.transportdirect.info) - App
Download Traveline Scotland's app which shows times for all public transport in Scotland (www.travelinescotland.com)
3. Designated driver
If you live in a more rural area where there is less public transport this is a great option – especially if you take turns with your friends.
4. Call someone to come and pick you up
If possible call someone you know to come and pick you up. A friend or relative would rather you got home safely than risked six months in jail.
5. Use a service like Scoot to drive you home
Scoot drivers come to your car on a fold-away scooter and drive you home. This maybe cheaper than a two-way taxi fare.
